The community of Devils Lake just made it easier for anglers to access the shoreline of one of the lake’s most popular fishing spots. With the help and funds of many, a brand new fishing pier has just been constructed on Channel A.
Channel A was chosen for the first of several planned shore fishing piers. It’s already known as one of the top locations to intercept walleyes and northern pike each spring. The in flowing water from thousands of square miles enters the lake through Channel A. It’s easy to locate, just north of Highway 2, west of the City of Devils Lake.
“The City and local sponsors understood the need for accessible fishing locations,” said Suzie Kenner, Devils Lake tourism director. The elderly and mobility-impaired anglers are the top priority for the fishing piers, which include wheelchair ramps.
Two other shore fishing piers, at Henegar Landing and East Ditch Rec Area are part of the overall $610,765 project. For details and information about the Shoreline Fishing Project, contact the Tourism office at devilslakend.com or 701-662-4903.
